Defensive end Jason Hatcher is met by Robert Griffin III of the Washington Redskins as he walks off of the field after being injured against the Dallas Cowboys. (Patrick Smith/Getty Images) Barring any sort of setback, Jason Hatcher expects to suit up on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills despite a lingering nerve issue in his left shoulder. He returned to practice on Thursday as a limited participant after missing Wednesday’s session.
The 33-year-old Redskins defensive lineman played through the injury in Sunday’s 24-21 victory over the Chicago Bears, although he only received 12 snaps in the game. Hatcher has noticed improvement over the past few days with the way the muscles and the nerve have reacted.
“A couple days ago, it was like a burning sensation all night,” Hatcher said. “It just burned, burned. I heard that’s kind of a good sign that it’s kind of waking back up. These last couple days it’s went away but for the most part, you can’t use your arm like you want to. You can’t hold it up, you can’t swing it and stuff like that because that nerve connected to those muscles [is] not sending the signal out to tell it to work.” Hatcher felt like his muscles have started to wake up, but he’s still needs to give the nerve some time to rest. “As long as I don’t hit it and re-aggravate it to set it back, I’ll be okay,” Hatcher said. The 10-year veteran hasn’t missed any time since he suffered the injury against the Dallas Cowboys two weeks ago. It’s similar to the injury that landed center Kory Lichtensteiger on short-term injured reserve, but Hatcher’s issue isn’t as severe. “Thank God for that, but it’s the same thing,” Hatcher said. “We both had nerves. He had a disc. I just had a nerve, so that’s a good thing for me. Mine will be a little quicker recovery time.” More from The Post: Roberts might need season-ending surgery | Practice report Bog: Tress Way happy not to be team MVP this year Alex Smith ‘ecstatic’ about joining a team in the playoff chase Rambo playing well for Bills | Amerson doing same for Raiders More NFL: Redskins | Around the league | Bog on Redskins | Fantasy Follow: @MikeJonesWaPo | @lizclarketweet | @MasterTes | @Insider SuperFan Badge SuperFan badge holders consistently post smart, timely comments about Washington area sports and teams.
