Applications are now being accepted for TWO positions of Assistant Professor, Computer and Information Sciences at San Diego Mesa College, beginning fall 2017. Primary responsibility for this position is the teaching of the Computer and Information Sciences courses; which include a wide variety of computer applications, network, environments, graphics, programming languages such as C, C++, Arduino, Java, Python, JavaScript, Objective C, Swift, Common LISP, Racket, Visual Basic.NET, C#, and R; relational database theory and applications, NoSQL databases, game programming, Virtual and Augmented Reality, Data Analytics, Big Data, Cloud, and Mobile Computing technologies; and operating systems such as Unix, Linux, and Windows 10. Database union Depending upon the qualifications and experience of the successful candidates and the needs of the Department, other responsibilities may include teaching the following: object-oriented development methodologies and tools, microcontroller applications, Arduino and Raspberry PI hardware/software project development, game programming, Virtual and Augmented Reality, and Cyber Security. The successful candidate should demonstrate evidence of:• Knowledge, experience and/or academic preparation to teach college level Computer Information Science curricula, including a familiarity with a wide variety of computer applications, network, environments, graphics, and programming languages such as C, C++, Arduino, Java, Python, JavaScript, Objective C, Swift, Common LISP, Racket, Visual Basic.NET, C# and R; relational database theory and applications, NoSQL databases, Data Analytics, Big Data and Cloud Computing technologies; and operating systems such as Unix, Linux, and Windows 10. Create database link • Knowledge and experience in Computer and Information Sciences at the lower-division college level. Database form • Completion of appropriate graduate level coursework in Computer and Information Sciences.• Professional work experience in the computer software systems and networking industry or academia.• Evidence of commitment to remain current in the Computer Information Science discipline, and to its instructional program.• Experience with software engineering and/or object-oriented development methodologies and tools. Data recovery process • Familiarity with one or more of the following: robotics, microcontrollers, internet of things (IOT), data analytics, and cyber security.• Proficiency in structuring, delivering, and communicating Computer Information Science education using innovative approaches and multiple delivery mechanisms such as lecture, laboratory, computer applications, project-based assignments, survey exercises, media techniques and on-line education.• Working knowledge of learning styles and teaching techniques.• Experience in the development and/or review of courses and curriculum.• Ability to work collegially and collaboratively with faculty, within and outside of the department to collaborate, teach, plan, and implement courses in Computer Information Science.• Knowledge of multiple disciplines beyond Computer Science and insight into opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration.• Commitment to supporting departmental and college missions, including the ability to work with faculty, staff, students and the community in a variety of on- and off-campus activities.• Experience and commitment to building community relationships, industry partnerships and maintain an advisory committee.• Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communications.

Class 1, Step A – Class 6, Step C ($5,658.89 – $7,625.90) per month based on the current AFT – College Faculty Tenured- Tenured Track Monthly Salary Schedule

Initial salary placement for this Assistant Professor is commensurate with required education and related teaching experience as outlined in section A2.2 of the AFT Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and it is non-negotiable.
